Have you ever been afraid? You feel that sudden rush of warmth go through your body, you start breathing a bit faster, your heart rate picks up and you get that lump in the back of your throat. It’s terrifying and you don’t know why you’re afraid, you just are.
It’s been 3 months since I’ve walked through the shelter doors but I remember it like yesterday. I was petrified. I wouldn’t eat, wouldn’t drink and wouldn’t dare let anyone near me. I lashed out at people who were only trying to help, but i couldn’t accept it. I was going through the worst time of my life and what hurt the most was knowing that not one person came looking for me. No one called for me, no one put up posters with my picture on it and no one came to the shelter. It was like no one was missing me at all, like I didn’t even exist.
The Animal Care Team at this place is relentless. They wouldn’t give up on me, they still haven’t, so how could I give up on myself??? I went from not eating, to scarfing down my food like a champ and I lick the bowl clean! I went from being too afraid to go for a walk, to crying like a baby when I see my leash and collar. I went from not touching toys, to carting big stuffers around in my mouth. I’m showing my caretakers that I can do this, I can conquer my fears.
Here’s a bit about me and what I’m looking for:
✅an experienced owner that will continue to build my confidence in a positive and patient manner
🐾I am afraid of men, but willing to work with someone that’s willing to work with me
💩 I’m totally house trained
🐶 I get along well with other dogs
🎾I love playing with toys, but can be possessive when other animals are around
I am no where near perfect, but I can’t stay here forever. I need to build a relationship with humans that I can call my own. It’s not going to be easy and I know I’m gonna have to look really hard, but I know they’re out there…somewhere.
Please share my story far and wide
