Oakley's Personality

With strong brown eyes, a grey muzzle and fur like velvet this handsome boy is looking for a home.

Oakley found himself without a family at the ripe age of 6 which left him feeling a bit displaced.  Adjusting to shelter life can be difficult with unfamiliar sounds and unfamiliar faces, but Oakley isn’t about to let anyone see him as weak.  He’s a proud boy with a hard exterior shell and a marshmallow middle.  He’s set in his ways and has no qualms about letting you know that he’s the alpha dog.  While Oakley has no issues passing other dogs he meets at the shelter or on the street, he does take issue with those walking past his kennel, his house.  He has barrier protection and treats his kennel as his den and will yell at you to “get off his lawn” per se.

He is house trained, knows basic obedience and enjoys a good belly rub.  He’s become an “in your face” kinda dog that loves kisses and good scratches.  He responds well to assertive humans that demonstrate a lower energy – not physically, but mentally.  He’s always curious as to what you’re up to and will follow you around just be nosy.

At this time we are looking for a home where Oakley can enjoy his senior years in an adult only home without other animals.  If you think you’ve got the place, then we’ve got the boy!

*has no reaction to the kenneled cats he’s met at the shelter, but this is not a guarantee that he can live with cats.
