The Cambridge and District Humane Society (CDHS) is a not-for-profit animal shelter in the heart of Cambridge, Ontario. As a trusted lifeline for both domestic pets and local wildlife, we provide compassionate care, protection, and advocacy for the animals who call this city home.
For 71 years, we’ve stood alongside compassionate community stakeholders like you to build a stronger, more caring Cambridge. Your support helps us uplift both pets and people – ensuring safety, dignity and hope where it’s needed most. Together, we’re creating a more humane future. Here are just a
few top priorities and ways we are supporting our community every day:
• Our Compassion Program is our largest initiative, dedicated to helping low-incomefamilies and seniors access emergency veterinary care and end-of-life services for their pets. Since launch: Over $67,000 in medical procedures have been covered, offering crucialsupport during the most difficult moments.
• The Emergency Pet Food Bank Program supports those who are unable to afford food due to rising costs. 2025 Impact: More than 500 cats and 500 dogs received food, treats, and toys, bringing comfort and relief to many homes.
• The “Spay your Mama” Program provides spay services while placing their unplanned kittens and puppies into new homes All contributions directly support these community efforts and would not be possible without generous
sponsors like you.
• Medical costs have been increasing each year with an annual total this year
we are projecting $160,000 just for medical expenses for Shelter animals
and through the Compassion Program. Every animal is assessed and given
the necessary veterinary care it requires to be ready for adoption. The costs
are not predictable, therefore hard to forecast for, so it’s important to build
a sustainable financial base we can draw on each year.
